Yes!!! :cool::cool::cool:
The 'Snake Valley Observatory' is no longer just a dream.
It is about to become reality.
The 'Snake Valley Astronomical Association' will now have a new home of its own with a Double Observatory to welcome visitors. Earthworks and construction is about to start.
Any SVAA members, or anyone wanting to be involved in the construction of the Clubrooms and Double Observatory are welcome to come along and be a part of this exciting project.
We will have concreting, shed erecting, and general 'get-stuck-into-it' jobs for all.
The shed is ordered and paid for, and the excavations have been booked.
Any qualified electricians are definately welcome as the quote we recieved is rather high!!!!
The building and Double Observatory is 4.2m x 14m consisting of a central clubroom of 4.2m x 6m with a 4.2m x 4m observatory at each end.
Exciting times ahead!
Let me know if you can spare some time to pitch in and be a part of the project :)
This is a quick sketch of what is will look like:

Nope. Nothing changes except where we meet. It has been a battle getting extra nights at our present location. This will allow members and visitors to come any night!

Great News Ken! What is the timing? Next few months? I'll try to help on a weekend or two. As a fully qualified research chemist, I'm sure there is a role for me! OK, I can swing a hammer without doing too much damage.
Congratulations SVAA!

Hi Ken
This is great news. Its fantastic that your members have contributed to this project and will own their own Observatory.
We have a long way to go in terms of getting our project off the ground - but wel will get there.
Again congrats to you and your members.
Cheers Petra

Thank You Petra.
I won't quite believe it until the first night of rolling one of the rooves open and poking the scope out  But it's happening :)
A fantastic project Ken, I'm looking forward to progress pictures.
Cheers

Unfortunately not a registered builder, I used to be a building supervisor but now I'm just a caulker who just fills gaps.
Still happy to do what ever I can to help out.;)
Keep me posted Ken.

:2thumbs::2thumbs:Congrats Ken and Co. Its great to have an observatory to go to. I sure miss the Bunbury one even though the town had encroached on it a bit over the years.
Too far away or I'd be there helping with the plumbing (installed the Bunbury one).

Huge? Nah, a few more roll-offs and a dome or 5 wouldn't go astray though
