Hello all...
I have been following recent processing threads regarding not clipping the histogram with interest.
As a result I have been trying to do just that in all my images.

My question is about the "auto" function in the digital development menu of ImagesPlus 2.80. When I use this on images it clips the histogram straight away. Sometimes the image looks great but mostly a bit harsh.
Why does the program clip the histogram? Is it supposed to?
I just wonder why a dedicated astroimaging program would clip the hist by default when we are trying not to!!??

All the best
Doug:thumbsup:

Doug, Have you read this IIS article (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/index.php?id=63,277,0,0,1,0) on avoiding histogram clipping in ImagesPlus? It may help.

Yea I know what you mean Doug, I used to do that all the time, now I dont use the Auto button at all in the Digital Development.

Another thing that can confuse Auto DD can be the border you get where frames do not quite align precisely due to drift or field rotation. Where this happends you get a black border that can confuse the auto routine - a simple crop can improve matters...
