i have on loan a h-alpha modded 350d with a baader filter fitted , just need to know should i be using an infra red blocking filter when i use the camera?

Nope. The whole idea is to let through more of the spectrum. Have fun, you should get some nice data with the modded camera :thumbsup:

hmm bit confused now , i did a test shot the other night but the image was nearly bright red in colour so i was assuming that it was pulling to much of the infra red wavelength through thats why i was referring to an ir/uv blocking filter so i can record more h-alpha.
god this imaging lark drives you nuts sometimes :screwy:
