Thinking it was a good idea to give my tent an 'air out' before I use it this Friday at Camp, I set it all up to check all the pegs, posts etc were there, and get rid of that 'stored away' smell.

I meant to only leave it up for the day, but forgot about it!!!!

This is what I came out to find at 7:00am this morning. :eyepop:

My dogs won't come near me at the moment! :mad2:

Not only did my dogs destroy the outside, but they tore their way inside and conmmenced to tear up the inside walls too!!!

Moral to the story: If you need to air your tent out, lock up the dogs!!!!!!!

1. Outside awning section
2. Outside awning section
3. Inside the main room

Hmmph!

Off to Rays Tent City this afternoon.

I have spent most of today trying to repair the damage, but it is really beyond help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was going through their heads when they did this!?!??
They obviously don't want you to go away again Ken.

DEAD DOGS tell no tails, live ones run with them between legs

Perhaps that 'stored away' smell was a bit like a 'food' smell to the dogs?!!!

I have no idea what was going through their heads.

I know my boot went through their backsides!

It is not in their character to do this destruction, and the clawmarks went right up to the roof, so they did some mighty high jumping!!!!! And they even chew one of the zips off and chewed through one of the ropes :screwy:

I am going to Rays Tent City right now to get another one. I checked with them and they have one left!

Our dogs usually do these sorts of destructive deeds when they are bored. I feel for you Ken - I'd still be cleaning my ankles off after extracting my foot from their behinds.

If it's any consolation Ken, we had a similar thing happen to the boys tent by our cats, although not as bad.
I reckon our dog would've caused more damage though if he got stuck into it.

Ouch! Are you sure it was your dogs? An inquisitive possum that got frightened maybe?

Cheers

What a bummer Ken, there must have been one strong alluring smell that your pooches really wanted to get to.

round my way that would be Formaldehyde used prior to them being stuffed and mounted

Dennis, I am 100% sure it was the dogs.

As soon as I walked outside and headed in the direction of the tent, they skulked away. Guilty conciences.
Oh well, I picked up my new tent this afternoon. And I won't be airing it out in the backyard next time. I'll use the paddock again, the sheep have never touched it any other time it has been out there.

Yeah – I’ve seen that “don’t look at me, I’m as guilty as hell” look on a dog as it tried to sneak out of the lounge after destroying the carpet! Fortunately, it was at a friend’s house; his dog and his carpet!

Glad to hear you’ve got the new tent Ken, at least you’ll now be warm and dry at the camp.

Cheers

Warm and Dry? The forecast is for Fine and warm, up to 27 on Sunday :)

and if it gets cold at night, I'll still be up imaging anyway

What do you need a tent for? after reading your posts on -7 degree observing sessions, this time of year should feel positively tropical to you--Just sleep under the stars.

Good luck with the new tent. Keep them pooches away.
I have had 2 inquisitive horses get in though an open gate and walk all over the site I usually put my scope. It is going to make leveling the scpoe a bit more tricky. Not that it matters much at present with
ALL THIS CLOUD!

hey, it could have been worse. You could have not aired the tent and had the dogs attack the tent with you in it! I would have used the dog's hides to mend the tent if that happenned to me.

C'mon guy's - lay off the poor dogs

they probably picked up Kens scent in the tent - thought he was trapped - and were trying to save him

Hey Ken, you didn't kick your dogs all the way to my house did you?
I got home from work yesterday only to find my bedroom curtains shredded and ripped to bits. I blamed my ferral cat, but now I am thinking, "ruddy Ken's dogs", how did they get in.

Good luck with your new tent, maybe spray it with citrus or something to keep them away.

There must be something in the air!!!
Pet pheromones must have gone bivwark. It could turn out to be the making of a good B-flick by Hitchcock. Pets around the world going gar gar and attacking inanimate objects, ooooooooooooo, better watch the undies on the line.:scared:

And as for your laughing wife, my dad would of said to her "your as useful as a fart in a wind sock"

In my mind I picture a poor persons face, when, walking one day this huge pair of draws lands on their head, as the bird decides "this blanket is too large for the nest and it will smother my babies", whaaaaaaaahahahahaha, sorry nightstalker the picture of a bird knicking knickers is just tooooo funny.
