Thankyou John, I spent weeks designing it based on lots of information off the web, the dome itself took 2 months to build. I planned on two weeks..

Thankyou Gary.

The timing was good, the obs was near finished by the time I had worked how to drive the scope. Im very happy with the performance of the gear, It didnt work out entirely as planned, but its close enough, for a pedantic fuss pot...

Cheers

Great stuff Shawn! Stunning effort!
I hope that theres going to be an OPENING BBQ to go with that!

So you're an hour or so inland from Cairns? Talk about a BOX SEAT to the 2012 Total Solar Eclipse!

Great Vid!

Well done, looks nice and big. The layout with control room is great, no messy cables in this design. I am assuming the cables are passed through the floor to the control room. Are you using the space bellow the telescope as a storage space or is it sealed off?

Thankyou All. And Fahim , yes all the cabling goes under the false floor, and yes its used for a storage area for infrequent use stuff and cartons for scope bits and the like, although the concrete section of the pier has a large triangulated footprint under there, so there is not a whole heap of space left, the pier block I guestimate at around 5 tonnes...with steel triangulation to the corners of the insulated pier pad, I should have taken a pic of it...:)

Thanks All

Wow, fantastic!

How tall is that pier?

Shawn
02-11-2007, 05:51 PM
Thanks Mike , its 1.7 meters to the bend, but at 17S the forks sit fairly flat obviously , for the most part it puts all the bits at about eye level for a bloke of 5 , 10 Only when getting down for things like that rotten comet I cant quite do, I need a single step.. I have a thing against stooping....:D

Cheers Mate
