Ok - we all have one in the shed - but what is the correct/ or your way, of spelling
"Thingymebob" or is it "Thingymabob" ?
of course, you all know what one of these is, don't you ?

Both are correct...
the first spelling is for things that belong to you... the second those borrowed from a neighbour.

I've always pronounced it like Thingamabob, but I like Alex's idea of attaching "original ownership" to the pronunciation.

Up here in Queensland we have doodads and occasionally for really complicated stuff with working parts , they are gismo's. Thingammyjigs would definitely refer to stuff borrowed from the neighbour and forgotten about. I am also the proud owner of a semi-automatic spade, and that is absolutely a gismo:D:D
