Didnt know where to put this but i figured its equipment

just a few pics showing construction of my observatory, i had request so here it is, all timber as per usual building specs max 450mm centers etc. i guess a pic says much more...

i built a different setup for support rather than a pier as i can still use a dob if i want. ive put a bigger scope on the mount since these were taken.

hope this gives people ideas , and its not that hard to do

Now that is fantastic, and what a view!! the trees, will they be a problem later on?

Great use of a sloping site! Looks like the trees are to the south ... presumably you can see the SCP. Thanks for posting, I'm inspired now!

I'm supremely jealous of your location.
Yes, those trees could be a problem. No need to cut them down, just shorten the central trunk and prune them into something less obstructive.
I hope you get many years of enjoyment from your observatory.

Looks fantastic - jealous of your location! I'd second the pruning of the trees though!
4x4 hardwood corner posts up the walls? - now that thing is not going anywhere in a hurry!! Great job!

Wow that is a fantastic location, :eyepop: what a view of the heavens you will get from there, make good use of the chainsaw when needed.

MAN!!! now that's a location...?...err? where is it? :D

Love the design and construction, nice and simple yet proffessional.

I had a full dome setup outside Canberra until August 2006. It was 780m above sea level under mag 6 skies and generally great seeing yet only 30min to the centre of Canberra DOH!

..Oooooooh how I lament :( Your location looks every bit as good or better.

The next observatory will most likely be more like yours.

Thanks very mich for posting, it was very helpful!
