View Full Version here: : Powered USB Hubs
Hi all. I 've been looking for a powered USB hubs for my lappy that runs Vista but just cant seem to find one. They all seem to support Windows up to XP and then stop.
I have seen a few unpowered hubs that support Vista but they are unsuitable. Has anyone seen any in their travels or know of any store currently selling any.
Cheers all :)

Hey Ken
I thought you said in some other post that you didn't know anything about computers.
He doesnt ;)
But he is good at other things
Turns out it was exactly what I was after. It should arrive tomorrow.
Thanks Ken

I fail to get why Vista would have legacy issues with a USB hub, of all things. We're talking protocols, after all. But then, in the world of Microsoft, stranger things have happened.
Or maybe I missed the boat and you are just looking for manufacturer support for Vista?

Slightly off topic, but does powered USB hub always mean AC powered, or can you get DC versions for in the field?

The Jaycar unit is 5 volt dc out of the mains adapter.
Hi citivolus, when I was looking through the websites the majority of hubs state that they support windows platforms up to XP so right or wrong I assumed that it would not work on a Vista platform.
The last thing I want is a lump of hardware that doesn't work or has conflicts and errors.
Cheers

The easiest way to deal with this issue Ric is to chuck vista to the....four winds :P and install XP ;)

I don't, but I can read
Hi Paul, The easiest way to uninstall Vista and install XP is to buy a new hard drive and put XP on it. I seriously believe it would be the easiest way.
The new powered hub arrived today and I test run everything tonight and it is running perfectly, the DSI is just too power hungry for my lappy but now it purrs along and it also now talks happily with Maxim as well. I took a few test images and was very happy with the results.
Cheers:)
