Hi everyone,

Just need some help to understand what cable i need to get if i would like to use Guidedog to autoguide a G11 that doesn't have GoTo. I understand that the mount is ST4 type configuration.

I have all the ASCOM drivers, and guidedog is setup and happy. I have a USB-serial adapter that works well for LX.

Examples of what i think i need would be 'Shoestring Astronomy's' USB guide port interface. There just doesn't seem to be anyone in Aust. that has anything like it. Am i barking down the wrong cable? Is all i need a wiring diagram to show the pin setup between serial and RG11?
:help:
Any help would be great
Thanks
George.

Hi

I have a GM-8 without Gemini that I use as my field setup, to autoguide, all you need is the Shoestring Astronomy GPUSB and a 14ft flat cable:

Simply order them direct from Shoestring Astronomy.

GuideDog is getting a bit old now, I would suggest you try either PHD or GuideMaster (both free). Just make sure you run the Guide Rate at 0.5x or the mount will start to occilate and chase the seeing.

You dont say what you are using as an autoguider as some of the newer guiders have a direct connection to the autoguider port and don't need any adapters.
