CS3 RGB idiots guide for me......

Hi Guys

I am after a >>>>>> IDIOTS<<<<<<< guide to combining RGB images in cs3 so I can have a bash at Iceman’s Jupiter data.
This will be my first attempt at combining RGB…….. So be gentle please…….:help:

It's OK Trev. We all know how you feel starting out...:P

Here's what I did:

1 Load all three images into CS3.
2 Select one - say the red channel.
3 Create a new layer (Layer, New, Layer...)
4 Select the green channel image, and then Select All, and copy
5 go back to the red image and make sure the new layer (Layer 1) is active/selected, then paste in the green channel image.
6 Right click on Layer 1 in the Layer Control, and choose Blending Options.
7 In the pop up window under Advanced Blending uncheck the red channel, and click OK.
8 Create a new layer for the green channel - Layer 2.
9 Copy the blue channel image and paste into Layer 2 as you did before.
10 This time right click on Layer 2 in the layer control, choose blending options and deselect both the red and green channels.

If layer 2 is not on top of layer 1, either drag it on top or go back to layer 1 and turn off the blue blending checkbox as well.

That's handy stuff, Al.

I noticed in Step 4 you say 'copy'.

How do you do that?:)

Is that just a Control C type of thing?

I used a combination of your primer and this one below for easier selection of copy and paste, thanks to Costas if your reading this.

Still a very long way to go but I now have a coloured image.

Open all 3 images in Photoshop

Select the one with the red channel and duplicate it Call this Master. For the Master, go to the channels palette. Now all channels are the same so you need to replace the Green and Blue channel.

Open the Green image, and go to the channels palette - click on the green channel (they are all the same) CTRL A to select the image, CTRL C to copy it.

Now select the Master image, click on the green channel and then CTRL V to paste the green channel

Repeat with the blue image - but obviously using the blue channel

On the master image, click RGB in the channels palette and you should have a coloured image made up of the three

<Ctrl> C will work, or you can use Edit, Copy from the menu system...
