hi all,

im after a simple and free star chart program for an iPAQ pocket PC im getting. i just need a map of the sky that includes the positions of DSO and the planets. nothing too fancy. ive found heaps of programs on the net, but i have no idea which one to go for!!! :help:

does anyone here use a program that fits this description, and where can i download it?

ive gone through old posts regarding the subject, but havent found anything suitable.

Taiyoukei is free I think but I'm pretty sure the programmer was going to shut down his site. Its meant to be pretty good but I've always had problems getting it running smoothly.

I know you wanted free but pocketstars is pretty good and only about $20

I've got PocketStars, and agree with Isdonisgood, it's excellent. When I had a problem with my pocket PC crashing completely, the author was very helpful in personally answering questions, and providing a new copy f.o.c.

Pocketstar runs forever unregistered. You just have to put up with a splash screen after 30 days.

i got my ipaq today, its a fun little gadget. (im writing this message with it!). i'll download the trial version of pocket star, but not until next week (i exeeded the broadband download limit by watching the pasha bulker live webcam, lol!).
