is it possible to run the heq5 off astro software to make it goto capable , i have done the shoestring mod on the hand controller so i was wondering if it could be patched into starrynight or any other astro software?:shrug:

Yep. You'll have to wait until the brainy guys answer how to do it, but it is can certainly be done. As far as I know it is only one cable.

With the Magic Box that Andrew (Astroman) is beta testing on his EQ6, you won't need a Hand controller.

It is a small box that connects between the Computer and the mount. I have seen him use it and it seems pretty good.

alternatively if you can find an old vers 2.5 controller you can run a cable from that to a pc with cartes or a similar proggy :)

if it has a square box hand controller with 4 buttons and little switches that have North south and speed increments you will need to get a GOTO controller board which can be quite expensive. The EQMOD will not work with the older type boards.

:( yep thats the controler 4 x buttons north and south and 3 rates of speed , is this now going to be an expensive job and the possability of it not working? :shrug:
