Hello welcome amd linux users,

Just a heads up I was on the pixinsight forum seeing if anyone had got zluda working (translating cuda to amd gpus) and there was a response that someone has just gotten native/ROCm gpu accereration going in starnet++ and blurxterminator (and other RC-astro tools).

Here is the link https://rockchucksummit.com/pixinsight-gpu-acceleration-for-amd/

the website also has compiled libtensorflow files. Currently it is for Ubuntu 22.04 however he is working on Fedora and mentioned that he is considering making a PPA for deb/ubuntu users.

I managed to test it out on my Arch install and got the starnet++ cli working via distrobox w/ ubuntu 22.04 - but pixinsight on distrobox wasnt useable. it was done on a 7900xtx but he mentions on the website he has possibly other options for older gpus.

For me in starnet++ it managed a 58MiB 3909x2613 tif in 10-11 seconds and a mega 8747x6047 300MiB file in 41 seconds. GPU utilisation was around 34% on the 7900XTX.

anyway some progress at last

Nice one Russell!

GraXpert is pretty happy using a GPU too ;)

Ok cheers Dunk - I might give it a go - although I have found graxpert quite quick on the cpu anyway

Yeah, the actual gradient remove works fine as is, I forgot to mention it was mostly GraXpert denoise I was referring to

I "defected" to nvidia for all the gpu acceleration stuff a while back, but look forward to the day when the AMD-related software stack is more mature.
