Im looking to fill a gap in my eyepiece collection with a suitable ep around the 20ish millimeter range.

Heres what I currently have:

2 x Pentax XL, 10.5 & 14mm
Celestron Ultima barlow
Panoptic 27mm
nagler 31mm (recent aquisition)

Im considering selling the 27mm panoptic and going for a 22 or 24 panoptic. Another option is the 20mm pentax xw but I have read some comments which suggests field curvature is an issue on this eyepiece.

The eyepiece will serve double duty in my 10inch gso dob, and my ED80 refractor FL=600mm . A 1.25" barrel is a must so that Im able to use my 1.25" uhc filter with it.

Suggestions or comparison experience with the 22 and 24 panoptics would be much appreciated.

P.S After this , no more eyepieces

Geoff,

You know I use the 22 Panoptic, and its very good and of the highest QT.:)

But I would prefer the 24 as its smaller and as you have 14mm and 10mm Pentaxes, which use the 1.25 barrel. No changeing.

I only have the 22 as I got it at a good price.:D

If you would like to wait, Mark has the 24 Pano, and next time we observe try the 22 and 24 then decide.:D

hmm selling the 27 Pan hey?? At a bargain price of course? :poke: :D

I don't think you'd go wrong with either the 22 or 24 Pan. What type of objects do you think you'll primarily use this EP for?

Yes Dave id love to check out the 24mm as I havent looked through one as yet. The scary thing is I know I'll have to pay a lot more for a 24mm than a 22mm as theres next to zero chance of getting one second hand :(

Sorry Mike , I promised somebody else first option on the 27 pano if he still wants it. They do appear regularly on astromart, which is where I got mine.
