Taken 3rd August around 1am. The seeing was decent and after a quick visual session I set up the camera, and then right on cue transparency suddenly improved for a few minutes and quite stable too which was such good luck! It didn't last long so subsequent captures were not so good but really happy to in the right place at the right time!
5min captures, 10ms exposures
c14 non edge
eq8
asi462mc (UV/IR)
Zwo ADC
ASICAP
AS!3

Thanks for looking!

Love a good planet image, great to see and good work with the Mercury , Venus combo. Saturn is always so pretty, never get tired of seeing her.

Cheers Jeff and Warren. Happy with the conditions indeed although my processing a bit rusty I’m struggling to nail the colour balance I feel.
-And yes there’s something about Saturn every year it comes around I get this real sense of awe when I see it through the eyepiece. Never get tired of it!

Ripping Saturn Dave! This near edge on phase allows the planet to show all its bands- nice colour.

Nice capture Dave
You must have been in the right spot at the right time
Excellent detail !!
You can’t beat a C14 for planetary work !
Seeing has been ordinary in Sydney over the past 2 weeks ( according to my guiding activity and numbers )
I must get back into some planetary ( I just dabble in it with my Canon 600D and Televue Powermates , nothing serious )
Haven’t imaged the planets for nearly 2 years
Here’s my last attempt at Saturn with my old 6” Newt , Canon 600D and Televue 5 x Powermate from Sydney ( BYEOS planetary mode , Autostakkert 3 and Registax 6 )
Cheers

Thanks Martin. Normally it happens that by the time I’ve put the eyepieces down and set up the camera the seeing deteriorates so I was pleasantly surprised for it to go the other way!! A c14 is amazing for the planets - and with the binos in i’m in planetary heaven!! but I can probably count on one hand the number for nights the seeing allows for full use of all that resolution.
That Saturn shot of your is a stunner mate! Now you’ve revealed what you can do I fully expect to see some shots from your 8”or 10” this season :D

Thanks Dave,
Gee the pressure is on now , although Deep Sky targets get my priority on good clear nights
I am keen though to give the 10” a whirl
Cheers
Martin
