Cropped images sent as a attachment in email

Hi Guys, could some one please throw some light onto why Portrait image crop when sent in an Email as an attachment. :)

I don't take portrait photo's but Alice dose and then she wants them Emailed to her friend but it seems that the full picture never sends and is heavily cropped :shrug:
