Hot spotting a laptop

Hi guys, just wondering can a laptop or a computer be that old that hot spotting the device from my phone just not work.:shrug:

I have tried with my regular desktop and it works fine but wont hot spot an older laptop running Win XP.

I don't really need to do it as I have plenty of available data but was just trying it out on a older laptop

Dose the technology just not work with older devices.:shrug:

Hi Leon,

I think it depends on the WiFi security protocols in use. XP might not 'speak' the correct protocols the hot-spot is offering. You won't be able to upgrade XP, but you might be able to downgrade what the hot-spot offers.

It should work if you use a USB cable link to the Hot Spot device. I have a 5G Inseego box (not a phone),. My laptop runs fine off the device when connected via USB.
