Well I have been having the world's worst computer problems with my laptop the last 2 weeks.

2 new HD's later I picked it up today and seemed to be working ok at the store but now having lots of problems running my SPC900 webcam.

The laptop is a Tochibe Tectra A4 with 1 gig of RAM, 1.83 CPU and 2 years old with a new 60 gig HD.

Essentially what happens first is then when I go to capture something all these frames get dropped. In fact, more get dropped than get recorded! Usually I record in AMCAP but the same thing happens in QFOCUS. I have tried re-installing all the drivers including re-formating the camera using WCRMAC and this has only made a slight difference.

Then, if I leave the camera plugged in for a while and I unplug it I get a blue error screen saying ".....dumping physical memory..." and the computer turns itself off.

With Jupiter blazing O/head this is just driving me insane!

Any thoughts anyone?

I can't help with the technical side John, but on nights of poor seeing, my Avi's (on the rare occasions I use Avi's) drop more than they store. If the program isn't happy with them (quality-wise) it rejects them. Actually a handy thing to happen. It is only saving the better stuff.

But as to your pooter problems, I have no idea.

It's good practice to use the safely remove hardware option in the system tray to stop the appropriate service before removing the camera (or any other USB device for that matter). You can get away with just unplugging some devices, but not all.
