The BBC Sky at Night Magazine has some good astroimaging tips.

The latest edition features a free software program called Siril.

see https://siril.org/

I like some of its features. Another tool in the digital processing kit.

I've attached an RGB image I took from home (no great shot).

Anyone else using it?

Many of us are using it, there are some very good youtube videos on how to utilise it properly.
I do use it for many things but not solely as there are better programs (paid for) that allow for better fine tuning in terms of noise reduction, sharpening, colour balance/saturation etc. but Siril is a solid piece of processing software but don't rely solely on it unless you have excellent subs.

Hi Richard,

I use it for stacking and initial pre-processing (gradient removal, colour calibration, etc) before handing off to Affinity for the rest of the work.

Having said that, I haven't progressed past using it's pre-provided scripts, and really should look into doing things manually to get better control of what parameters are used in it's operations.

As Nik has said, there are some very good tutorials out there, both on Siril's website and other places, to help you get up and running with it.

Cheers,
V
