I have used nina for the last several months for capture control using the simple sequencer. My routine has been centre the target with Sitech and CDC then start PHD2 running.. In N.I.N.A connect the camera and mount open the sequencer page and select the simple sequencer. Then import the target from cdc, set the total and time and start the sequence. At this point I select imaging from the left pane and am presented with a camera panel, image panel and sequence panel.
But tonight, fully dark (Bortle 1) no moon am a total PHD2 RMS of .24 arc seconds
I was presented with a blank blue screen with the top showing the NINA version and the word "default". I tried a reboot but the problem remains.

How did this arise and how do I undo it?

Can you get to:
Options->Imaging
and see:
Layout->Reset Layout
at the bottom right?

Why are you using another application to center the target and start PHD2 while NINA does it all for you?

It would behandy if you have a screenshot of what you mean.

I love NINA, but some other applications are better at finding targets to shoot. The catalogue in NINA is pretty rubbish. I sometimes use it, but mainly I use Stellarium to at least find the target and then import the coordinates. The 3D view of Stellarium allows me to find the target within a few seconds.

Then I can play with rotation in NINA.

Fair enough, but you set you even centered the target by using another application instead of NINA.

Thanks John, the reset did the job. I have never ventured into that part of the options screen before. So how it was changed remains a mystery. As for centering the target Platesolve3 (via Sitech) and CDC is fast and efficient. Usually unparking the mount and slewing to the target requires very little subsequent adjustment, Once centered and guiding is started one can take time starting the N.I.N.A. sequence. I must add that after using Nebulosity for capture I have come to like N,I.N.A with its flexibility and power.

No worries. I've found occasionally using the tablet (via RDP ) I can accidentally close or move things. In the same place you can make a backup of your layout after you customise it and reload it later when needed.
Advanced sequencer is a bit daunting at first but once you get the hang of it I promise you'll love it. eg you can save the target as you framed it (from nina) and continue another night by clicking "go", wait till ready-cool-slew-centre-focus-resume... and just take frames until dawn etc and other fancy stuff like custom horizon and being able to trigger on that. Templates make it much easier than it seems.

In time you will forget about about centering via Sitech and only use NINA.
If a target isn't in NINA, I use Stellarium to import the coordinates in NINA.
Then everything else is in the advanced sequencer ready to go.
It took my awhile before I ventured into te Advanced sequencer but I am not going back anymore.

Glad it is solved.
