Not sure if anyone here uses SkySafari 7 Pro as a GoTo telescope control for visual observing? I use it a lot and found it to be excellent, until certain updates and "fixes" were release by the developers over the past week.

My mount is a Skywatcher HEQ5, and I use the WiFi dongle and an iPad rather than a Hand Controller. Once alignment / setup is done via the Synscan Pro app, I turn control over to SkySafari 7. Now, when the SS7 app talks to the Synscan app, they speak in two very different languages, and live on two different planets. SS7 will head to a point in the west when the object is in the east, etc, etc.

I have raised the issue on the developers forum but they seem more occupied with other matters and have made an couple of suggestions such as - is the EQ mount plugged in to power?? - that sort of banal communication.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask if anyone out there has run into the same problem over the past week??

Hi Stewart
I have both SS6 and SS7 on my iPad. I run Sky Safari with the ASIAIR but find SS6 to be more robust. SS7 hasn’t had a good track record with my setup. A while back SS7 would turn the mount tracking off mid run when I switched from the ASIAIR App to SS7. It took a while for that bug to be fixed after being logged on the forum.

Might be worth checking if the update reset your location.

Thanks Chris. I will check that out. SS6 is still available through App Store so will consider. Later information implies that the issue may lie with a recent update to Synscan Pro, so checking that out as well.

thanks again for the comments.
