Hi Guys just wonder if someone here could send me a safe link to get Microsoft Word download, safely.
The last time i tried this on Alice's laptop it all went wrong and i ended up with no program and lost the funds.
Surely there must be a safe place to do this.

Thank You in advance.

I use LibreOffice has most of the functions and all the functions an average user needs for free... That's for word, excel etc. Unless its work related and needs to move between MS Office and LibreOffice you won't really tell the difference.

If its work related, then MS Office allows one home copy for each work copy and can be sourced from the work IT crowd.

I use Softmaker Freeoffice - https://www.freeoffice.com/en/.
I haven't used the MS product for years now that there are free alternatives that are compatible.

Buy it directly from Microsoft Leon.

Microsoft Word (https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/word?activetab=tabs%3afaqheaderregi on3)

If you want genuine Microsoft Word the you can buy Microsoft 365 from the Microsoft Store from your computer apps or buy from any computer retail store such as Officeworks. Microsoft 365 for 1 user is $99 per year and gives you all the Microsoft apps. There is a 6 user version available for about $30 more. Sometimes retailers offer sale prices better than the Microsoft store.

You can buy from a retailer each year if on sale and simply change the activation code rather than upgrading and you can save a few dollars each year. Just don’t authorise Microsoft to bill your card if you do this.

If you want a non genuine copy, good luck and perhaps ask elsewhere.

If you want a third party alternative then there are a few available.

No worries. Here is the Microsoft link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/buy/compare-all-microsoft-365-products?tab=1

You can buy from retail store or through Microsoft Store on your computer found under Program Files/Apps list in the Start menu.

The link above shows you what you get. Note if you pay monthly I believe you are oblidged to go 12 months but I could be wrong. I always go yearly with the family version.

hi leon,

I can vouch for LibreOffice which is what Steve mentioned it really is a good product - there is no need to pay for MS Word etc these days except for business - and that's only because business uses MS - functionally there isn't much difference these days.

Have to admit and although I am not committed to MS I did try LibreOffice on Alice's laptop and agree that it certainty looks and behaves like MSW.
I have no trouble navigating through it.

But it is Alice I have to convince,

Thank You.

Russ is correct about compatibility. In "the old days" it was virtually impossible to find anything else that was compatible with MS Office products, but these days that's no longer the case. Why not try one of the free ones first? All it's going to cost you is the time to download and set it up. If you don't like it then you can still pay (:eyepop:) for the MS stuff if you want to.

Softmaker, the company I referred to, have paid versions available too which I suspect virtually guarantees full compatibility.

Hello Leon

Just to touch on one point, how did you pay for the software?? if you used a card you should have some recourse through your bank - same with Paypal.
If it was a genuine MS purchase, they should have a record of the purchase, no point in paying twice for the same product.

Never had a problem with Libreoffice. Use it all the time, but do its saves as for Microsoft Office

Alice has been using it and learning some new moves and I think she is even impressed, ;) so I expect we will actually keep it, thanks to all for your help and suggestions.
