Ram capture for imaging

I have downloaded the enterprise trial and will be giving a rip tonight. I only have 2gb of ram to play with, so will start with a 1024k drive (ram) and see how i go capturing RGB in 8 bit and 16bit. I want to try and maximise the speed of capture to keep up with what the camera is outputting.

yeh exciting development eh, wondered when the solid state hd would come up in regards to imaging, friend uses it for gaming, awesome write speeds hey, makes HDD's look positively sick

well, it worked...........whatever frame rate i threw at it......15fps, 30fps, 60fps, filters runs whatever!

u just have to calculate the size of the ram disk you want depending on:
1. frame rate
2. capture time
3. memory available
4. 8 bit or 16 bit images

my next or ideal laptop would have at least 4gb memory so that a minimum of 2gb ram disk could be set up........obviously, i will need lotsa aperture to capture at 60 fps and still fill the histogram

How long did you capture for? What was the delay after it had to write to disk?

How much does it cost?

1024mb ram disk out of the 2048 mb i have availabale to me

re runs: each frame is 604kb (i tick the 12bit option for the lumenera)
-a rgb run with 30s x 15fps b,g,r ie 90s
-a L channel only for 30s x 30fps
-a L channel only for 30s x 60fps.

i had open windows explorer so i could cut and paste off my b: drive(the ram disk) and then save to my hard drive manually.

cost $10 USD for the lite version or $19 USD for the enterprisre.

I downloaded the enterprise version but from reading, i reckon we only need the lite version

no delay because it is manual.

you could do a run of rgb and then cut paste the data onto the harddrive and then be ready for another run.

given that we normally capture every 5 mins or so (in qld, currently this is every 6months or so due to weather)...this is nice and easy.

I know that given my current computer resources, i can at best capture 16bit (or 12 bit, i am not sure) images at 26fps, sometimes less if the wireless is searching for netwrks etc etc
