View Full Version here: : Atronomy software by Noel Carboni
Hi folks
Has anyone come across Astronomy Tools - Astro image Processing Photoshop Actions by ProDigital Software - Noel Carboni
Went to his site actions.home.att.net/Astronomy_Tools.html and it looks impressive. I run Photoshop CS and the tools look pretty cool.
Any comments?

I have purchased his tool set and I find that they really are brilliant. They do exactly as advertsed and he was great to deal with. The price of his tools is very good and I recommend them

Those of you who have said that you already have the program, do you think it would improve an image like this one of mine?

Here is one of my images of the same object that has had some post processing with Noel's Photoshop actions.

Among the useful routines here would be reducing star diameters, removing background noise and colour gradients. I've found it can be a bit tempting to run too many of these actions and end up with a photo which is not very naturalistic looking. Nevertheless it's cheap and definitely worth trying.

Nice Graeme, but I don't know what your original looked like to compare the finished product with.
Is it possible to make my original any better or is it beyond help even with Noels program?

Thanks for trying.
I can see that the noise has gone and that the image is softer, but no visible improvement on the blue neb. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
I too use astronomy tools and one improvement it could make straight away to your image of the triffid nebula is to reduce the size of those "Blobby" stars. As i dont fully understand all that photoshop has to offer this set of action tools does things in photoshop that i would never be able to do without a great deal of training.

ps i do like your image!

as noel mentioned to me, he does put alot of work into these ATN,s- explaining that the ATN has to work in generalization-thats why he added the layers for different blending results- usually i find at least one action that will improve an image after stacking and processing- why not send him an email and invite him over here? he's pretty busy right now working with nasa and fits processing- i think he recently added a fits ATN for working with fits liberator, i dont understand this stuff though, its to advanced for me

Well on those recommendations I signed up for it tonight? So how does it come to you - I sent payment via credit card and expected an e-mail link of a secure URL, or the web or paypal to say there's the software - how does the distribution to me work?
Wow that was quick - paypal was supposed to forward me but it just died. However within 5 minutes - unprompted, Noel e-mailed me to say here are the files (glad I hadn't mis-typed the e-mail address!). What stunning service!
