View Full Version here: : A simple Win 10 installation please
Hi Guys.
I have a new Win 10 OS installation Disc, the Lappy has a new SSD (empty)
so I need to install Win 10 on this SSD, so do I just insert the Win 10 Disc and let it do its stuff or is there something else that I need to do first please.
Lets keep it simple please, just a simple Win 10 Installation.:)
Thank You.

Yep, boot from the CD and then click the 'Next' buttons.
About the only tricky part will be partitioning the SSD, and that's a matter of (from memory) selecting the SSD from the list of drives then clicking 'New' and 'Format'.
Cheers,
V
Thanks Steve, I did expect it would be pretty simple, but asked however.
Thank You.

Just out of curiosity can I use the bought retail disc more than once, or is it limited to the laptop and that is it

You're welcome, Leon.
As for the "install more than once" question, that's a tricky one as it depends on which version of Win10 you have.
As I understand it, 'Home' is allowed on one device, and there is telemetry back to MS-HQ to ensure this. 'Enterprise' or 'Pro' seems to do away with the one device limit, but the telemetry is still there.
If there's a Windows expert here, please speak up!!
There are tools and scripts out there that will kill the telemetry (aka monitoring / snooping by MS) as well as remove a lot of bloat and cruft. They're not for the inexperienced, though. (The one I use involves PowerShell scripting and editing of config files... Not for the faint hearted, that's for certain.)
Cheers,
V
OK, thanks Steve, I really only need it for the Lappy, but thought if my Desktop Win 10 dies I could use that Disc to reinstall the OS, maybe.

Call Microsoft and ask....
I will have to do it for activation of one of my "old" w'7 installations (HDD died so I have to activate again) and let you guys know how it went.
Excellent bojan, thanks for that.

It turned out I didn't have to call them for activation because it can still be done online (a colleague from work (he is IT guy) told me on line activation doesn't work any more..)
Oh well there you go, thanks for that.
