Re ran the Omega centauri data i took on the 3rd today with darks and bias frames.
De ovalised some of those horrible stars and tried to pull some of the colours out too.
I didn't need to crop the image as much either.
I hope this looks better :D

That’s a lovely glob Tony. I have never yet imaged a globular cluster. This one looks very sharp and has some colour.

Thanks Stephane, i have only imaged it twice with this camera and rushed the processing both times as you can see with my earlier post:rolleyes:
I have a habit of trying to get something looking ok as fast as possible :screwy:
Thanks again mate:thumbsup:

Why did you have to crop it at all? Globs, especially Omega C. look much better when the image includes many surrounding stars. The image is a bit saturated brightness wise, which masks the fact that globs are made up of
a large percentage of old red stars. Here's an example of what I mean.
This image is 8 x 30secs 8" Newt. with DSLR.
Incidentally, if your darks are of the same duration as your lights, you don't
need bias frames, as darks contain bias data.

i usually get stacking artifacts as i don't guide yet and the images wander a bit. this is not cropped very much at all, less than 20 pixels on the bottom and left side i think. Yes i totally agree its missing more red stars and is over saturated, i will try to watch that in the future mate :) i love your image btw.
and thanks for the info on bias frames, there are so many types of calibration frames i get confused :)

Yep, that's better. Your image looks dull; I don't know if it is the filter or what, but O.C. is very bright, in your face if you know what I mean. It has a
sort of lilac/blue tint, but should be a bit whiter to be true to how it looks visually.
Excuse the stars in my ancient image, was done without a coma corrector.
