Need help with fit files

Hi all , finally got a new computer. Problem I have when I try and transfer my fit files from my zwo usb stick they come up as gimp files and not fit . When I put the usb back into my old computer they come up as fit.

Do you mean the file extension is changing? That’s weird

Otherwise, sounds like you just need to change the defaults for the fits format on your new computer.
If you’ve installed GIMP, it’s taken over the format. You can easily change it to whatever program you want to open fits
Windows 10 and 11: right click the file, select Open With, select Choose another app, find your app and make sure to tick the checkbox saying Always use this app to open fits files and click okay

Cheers Adam , I knew it was something basic but couldn't remember worked a treat 3 sec fix. New computer is sweet as 32 gig ram now instead of 8 plus all the bells and whistles. Stacking 140 x 5 minute subs in DSS took less than 2 minutes. Happy processing days ahead:thumbsup:
