Hi all,
I am seeking some ideas/solutions that the more technical minded members might be able to help me with. :help:
I recieved my new LPI yesterday and happily proceeded to load it dutifully following Meades instructions when the first problem was encountered, the LPI's driver are not recognised by Vista whch is weird because Autostar Suite, Envisage, DSI II camera and it drivers all run happily with Vista. I says that the LPI driver are installed during setup but wont recognise them.
A quick check of a few American forums and the answer is found, apparently they are not compatible and a patch will be available in a few months, maybe. So in the meantime stay with XP.
No problems I'll run it from the tower with XP as I did before the laptop and Vista arrived and just hang the cables out the window as before, same problem XP wont recognise the drivers even though they are installed but everything else works fine. :mad2:

Has any other LPI user encountered this, the software is updated to the latest version and I assume that either camera is able to run of the same software though not at the same time, it just a matter of connecting either one.:P
I am hoping someone might have a solution or know of some driver that will make the LPI work with XP.

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Cheers :)

Hi Ric, I have an LPI working with XP but it can be flaky, the only odd thing I have found is the LPI seems quite fussy about the cable used. You could try connecting to a different USB port (or if you do not have one then totally de-install the LPI software and then restart and reconnect) if XP does not detect "New Hardware" you will know the port/cable/connection is not working. Fix that and you should be ok again.

Thanks John for your reply, If you are getting the red light at the rear of the LPI wouldn't that mean that the cable is working. I could test it against the DSI cable as well.
I shall give the reinstall a go and see what happens.

Yup = red light -> power is there but (in my case) it did not work on a different USB port without a re-install.

Hi John, it could well be a case of "the lights are on but nobody's home".
I shall try a complete reinstall tonight.

many thanks

Hi John, I'm happy to report that it all working fine.
I did a full reinstall and upgrade, also JohnG suggested to make sure that I was running .NET version 2.0 so I uploaded that as well.
The cables are working fine as well.
So it's now off to read the manual and work out how to use this little beggar.:P

Thankyou for your help and suggestions, they were greatly appreciated.

Cheers :)
