anyone know where I can get some plans to build an observatory dome
any help would be appreciated

What sort of dome? There are plenty of plans for geodesic type on the web, but I think if you want a more standard type dome plans may be a bit harder to find.
For a diy dome I think your best finding something that resembles the basic shape you need else a production dome may be your best bet.
I used a 8ft satellite dish dome, but I had to construct the rolling mechanisms, slit and weatherproofing myself.
If I had my time over I’d prob just buy a prefab dome with ring.

Try something like the link below. If nothing else it will take you through each step and tell you different ways of doing each step. Then its up to the resources and DYI abilities available for what might be a workable design.


I did think about a roll away shed option last year, found that the district railway society had a good price on the old railway rails. Great bit of infrastructure for next too nothing for the price of steel. Think I was quoted $120 for a length. Like the idea of the shed roll away over the roof, seemed like it would be easier to do.
