To me, they seem fairly expensive for a 55-degree eyepiece. I wonder how they compare to the Celestron X-Cel LX.

Likely rebrand version of an existing EP. Too much investment required to create a new private range.

They are yet another private label version of the same Long Perng eyepiece sold as:
Omegon LE Planetary
Orion Edge-On Planetary
Stella Lyra long eye relief
Altair Astro LightWave LER
Stellarvue Long Eye relief
They have been sold in the past under several other labels, including William Optics, Adorama, etc.

They certainly look like the orion edge on planetary and bintel sell them as well. The bintel version is $40 dollars cheaper than the orion version in their store. So maybe check out reviews on the other versions theyve been around longer.

The original Long Period planetary version i had suffered from internal reflections while observing the moon. I found a barlowed plossl was an improvement. The Celestron Excel LXs would be a better choice, along with the Starguiders. The 20mm eye relief on these is nice though.

I vaguely recall reading that one particular focal length had that issue but can't remember which one. I've had the 3mm and 12.5mm and no issues.

I do find it a bit odd that Bintel has brought this line out now when most other vendors have moved on to other models. The Bintel semi apo 80mm refractor also seems to be a Long Perng model that was offered by others a few years back. Nothing wrong with more choices of course but there may be better options for the money.
