G'day Steve. If you've downloaded it, I'd certainly like to know how it goes. ie details man, details. You know like a full review for the equipment and reviews section ;)

You'll find more info on this thread here (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=18852)about software for polar aligning.

Buy this at your own risk!
I bought it a couple of months ago and wanted some help with a matter and Ruthner refuses to answer or help in any way!

Hi Vince
Sorry to hear about the lack of response from Ruthner. I was just about to pay and register it maybe not now:(.
Cheers

I looked at this one too, but it fell short of my KISS approach, "Keep It Simple Stupid".

Hi,

I have been using this for quite a few months now - for me it is a simple and fast way to get an accurate polar alignment. Ruther was responsive when I requested assitance.

In fact now that I have used this software for a few months I probably do not need it anymore - as I can polar align correctly. Prior to using it I was easily confused. Eg: OK the star is drifting up hmmm...do I turn the adjuster to move the scope E or W? Err, lets see I have a 3 mirror scope and a diagonal in that means errr left on the screen right? Errr. ummm..ok how much to move it? I n ever really felt I had a good grip on it and never had someone to show me the correct way so I found this a most useful drift tutor.

I must admit I use it somewhat different to the instructions, I follow the process for AZ adjustment - and it gets me right in about two iterations (5-10 mins), for ALT I just follow normal follow the drift adjustments but use the WCS screen to get a flat dy over about 300s.

Yes I just emailed Wolfgang (I thought it was Ruther too) and he was most helpful think I`ll go for it anyway even though I have a permanent observatory setup its so easy to use if the scope gets nudged, guess I`m just a lazy git!

Thanks for the link Steve, and the feedback John - I'll download the 30 day trial and check it out as I have never drift aligned in my life!

Cheers
