Hi all,

Quick question to clear up some confusion. I’m looking to buy an Astronomik SHO & LRGB filter set from Bintel. The description on the website mentions they are CCD filters.

I own ZWO cameras & my question is, are these filters suitable for CMOS cameras as well or just CCD?

Short answer: yes :D

Less short answer: the main difference in visual and imagine filters is abruptness of cut-off. When imaging, we don’t want light spilling over, whereas our eyes are not as discerning. Also, imaging filters tend to be made to maximise transmittance, so we don’t waste photons.

And imaging filters often have UV and IR blocking coatings added, which explains why they are more expensive than visual filters.
