I have been running The Sky X on an old laptop that has Windows 7 Ultimate on it. The screen on the laptop got damaged. So I got a replacement laptop 2nd hand that runs Windows 10.

I installed a copy of the Sky X Pro on it. Entered all the serial numbers etc.
It connects all my devices like the camera, autoguider, filter wheel, focuser but it does not communicate with my mount a Software Bisque PME.

I was using Ascom 6.5 and as it has a question mark over it I made sure I installed the Service Pack 1 and no difference. I went back to Ascom V6.4 Service Pack , no difference. I checked device manager and in the com ports it has an error symbol. Looking into that it says there is no driver for the device.

I copied the drivers from my Wins 7 damaged laptop and installed them and no difference. I used update driver for these and it the program did not recognise them in the folder I saved them to. I had check subfolders on in the update driver menu box.

Any suggestions?

The PME connects fine on the Wins 7 computer. Is this some Windows 10 thing?

Greg.

Hi Greg

I also use the Sky X Pro but not with a Paramount - the first thing that springs to my mind though is which build of the Sky X is installed - there was an update to the build back in April (none for Windows since) but to access it you need a current subscription.

I suspect that there may be a driver change from Win 7 to 10 that is covered in the latest build - they are cumulative so if you miss one the next ones cover it. It was a full installer update not a DB for the last windows update.

Thanks Brian.

I did not opt in to the subscription as I the software was stable and I didn't really need it until now.

If I still can't get it up and running I guess I'll have to subscribe and get the latest. Mine is 10.5.0 and build number is something like 10829 or so.

Hi Greg.

I'd recomend to keep up to date with the latest updates and daily builds on the SB site.

Alternatively, you could use the serial port on the PME to conect to your computer. That's what I use.

I might have to. I got one lead on how to handle and I'll see how that goes. Its weird it works with everything else.

I run Win10x64 pro on my Obs toshiba laptop....with no dramas at all

Not sure which MKS controller you are using.

You need to install the MKS4000 (or MKS5000) drivers as well as SkyX

But you will need to use USB, RS232 or Wi-Fi (if the option is installed) to talk to the mount regardless.

Not sure why you would want to use ASCOM to control the mount ....if you have the SkyX...Bisque's native drivers are extremely stable

My PME has the MKS4000 board.

I don't have the driver for it and not sure where to locate it.

Hi Greg,

Have you downloaded and installed this driver?

Ah yes. That was it. It took a bit to install it (you have to right click and run as administrator, plus run the file off the net not your download).

Now it all works. Great stuff, thanks Josh - you da man.

Greg.

No worries Greg, also good to know about the little details you mentioned.
