Hi.
I'm looking at giving Siril a bit of a crack.
Siril to my surprise wont accept CR2 (RAW) so I'm looking at the best possible solution to convert. Would prefer a free converter if possible but willing to pay if that's only option and doesn't break the bank. I'm a Mac user also!
Cheers,
Ben

This is a little painful (slow getting there) but, he imports CR2 files for file conversion within Siril..
Can't confirm it works as I haven't used Siril...
Be curious to hear whether this works for you...

Thanks for that.
We must of been watching this at the same time :)
Yeah well foolish me as soon as I loaded Siril dived right in into get some stacking done, obviously noticing that all my CR2 files were greyed out so assumed that was that.
From my understanding CR2 files can be used for conversion to processing within Siril but the final output for further processing is a 16 bit TIFF i think.
Ideally would be great to use a stand alone program for conversion as I'm rather keen to give star tools a crack also.
There must be a program out there that folks who use Star tools that require FITS or 32bit conversion besides PS (assuming that ps does do that).

My Astroart will open .cr2 files and save them as .fits.

Hi Ben,
I currently use SiriL and have no problems stacking my CR2's with SiriL. But I suppose you would like to process each file is that correct. Maybe stacking as one file maybe the way. Never tried it but I may do that for the exercise. I have a ned to look at each file from my last imaging session.
Otherwise I use darktable which is free to process each file and save them as TIFF's. Unfortunately Darktable does not export to FITS.

GIMP will import CR2 files as well, If you have dartable installed it will first go to Darktable. I simply close it out if I do not want to do any adjustments. Once closed it will display the CR2 imported image and there you can export to FIT/FITS file.
If you intention is to process each then you can process in GIMP before exporting.
