Found some freeware webcam server software, it allows you to use a webcam and view snapshots over the net. The open source software is available at http://www.webcam2000.info/ It's simple to configure and works well. You will need an understanding of port forwarding to successfully use the software. In my case I port forwarded (ONLY) port 3200 to the machine that has the webcam server software on it. I intend to put a webcam outside as a weather cam, or if I can get enough gain maybe a night sky cam. Those with voyeuristic intentions can take a peek at my trial setup to a webcam on my monitor at http://acropolite.homedns.org:32000

Sorry Andrew, I turned it off temporarily and forgot to turn it back on....It's on now and I've changed the webcam so you can actually see outside.... The webcam in use is a cheapo under $30 and seems to perform better than the Logitech item I have costing 3x as much. For anyone who hasn't used dynamic NDS, there is a free DNS service available from http://www.dyndns.org Simply create an account, then set up a free dynamic dns address (in services) and if your DSL modem supports dynamic DNS then you will have a domain name which will be updated if your IP changes after power outages etc.
