Telstra TG799vac modem replacement suggestions?

I'm usually pretty happy with Telstra, they've managed to resolve the few issues we have had, usually same day.
We have been on the NBN for a long time now, using the Telstra supplied Gateway "technicolor TG799vac" modem, which also came with a phone which we no longer use.

Recent minor irritations with the modem dropping out and connection issues with my laptop are making me think I might be able to get a better modem.

Any suggestions? We don't need an NBN phone, just reliable fast internet, especially for the new smart TV.
Not thinking of any other smart home devices, the wife and I don't want to embarrass ourselves!

I found using TPG ( and their Huawei modem) on NBN was among the cheapest for unlimited downloads, and (touch wood) hasn't given any problems.
Smart TV - Hmmm - with or without Netflix??
We have a Foxtel account (satellite dish) for TV, independent of all their lastest "offerings".
Can't honestly offer any advise on other options.

We bought a Sony smart TV and have been using Netflix for a long time now.
Happy to stay with Telstra because of the plan they came up with for our mobile phones plus the internet.
Just want a more reliable modem, and maybe a faster one if possible?
