Hello there from across the ditch ,
I am planning a 3 week camper holiday to the South Island of your stunning country with my family:family2: . As there will be a new moon ( September) I was wondering if there are any observing parties:party: or get togethers :love2: which we could attend. I am keen to sample your pristine skies , crisp and clear:cold:  . We are planning 5 days in Queenstown , hopefully Skiing but the rest of the time is flexible and would like to get to know the friendly locals:D Cheer Zubenel

Good luck with finding someone Wes. If you have not been before the South Island is beautiful.

I'm friendly but not a Kiwi, Zubenel! Mt John Observatory at Lake Tekapo in the S Island is well worth a visit. Went there last year & thoroughly enjoyed both the day and night tours (night includes telescope viewing). Fabulous scenery, good knowledgable tour guides, very interesting research facility. Thanks for the link Rob. Looks like a great facility  I just did a search for associations in the south island. Invercargill looks promising:eyepop: Cheers Zub
