Hi,
Now I have started my second try to have a Raspberry as an astroserver. My first try didn't perform well because of to weak process power. Now with the new Raspberry Pi4 the situation had changed, and the Indi drivers are more developed too.

It's a bit complicated to setup the Raspberry with its Linux operating system. I'm a Window man. I have documented the first steps I have done and my plans here:

I will go back later and edit the parameters to get it optimized. But if you find it interesting you can read it already now and follow the progress.

It will be prefect for my portable equipment. Raspberry also these days annonced a new high resolution camera with Sony chip, maybe something for planethunting.

Any particular reason why you are setting up kstars/ekos on the RPi?

You could just install INDI and use your windows machine to remotely access it via kstars/ekos... makes for a lower resource intensive solution (i.e. you could use the Rpi2).

What's USB output amperage on the battery? You'll have to make sure it's 3A if you want to power the RPi4 and use the USB ports at maximum capability

Hi,
With my setup it work independent of the connection. That's the way I had my Windows server setup too.

When the profile is portable I control it from smartphone or pad. More like start and stop.

Everything is ready now for a field test, just need a clear sky. I got the focus motor (in lens) to work also.

The battery has two 2.1 Amp outputs. I hope that will be enough. To the bigger equipement a 12 volt battery with 5 volt 3 Amp converter .

Clouds every night, I have to do something. I did some indoor test of the focus with an artificial star.

I got it to work after many hours, but there is a problem when using the builtin focus motor in the lens. Maybe someone at Ekos can make it to work.

Still don't have control of the focus function. But have asked the people at Indi forum about the problem.
