LX200 GPS problems

Hello all,
I moved my LX200 GPS to an all metal observatory and had to do a factory reset. Consequently I can not receive a GPS signal. Now my pride and joy thinks it is still in the factory in the US and moves as if it is in the Northern hemisphere. Does anyone know how to convince my LX200 that it is in Australia and stays in that location since it is on a pier and is too heavy to move outside 14" LX200 GPS) ?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if you remove the gps module then connect it to an extension cable from the telescope, and mount the module outside the observatory. The extension cable would need to be free to follow movement of the mount forks. Mark

You can then set it yourself, as well as a bunch of other things that are a PITA to do without it.

The interface it relatively self explanatory, but read the help, and it's very detailed.

I strongly suggest getting the patches as well to get to 4.2g - fixes the issue with the 2019 GPS rollover bug too.

For what it's worth, I've always had problems with getting a decent GPS signal, even in a fibreglass dome.

I eventually get a signal (time it takes > my patience), but frankly, it's permanently mounted nearly always, and setting the date/time isn't that big a deal, especailly if you can do it with the above app, you pretty much never need to touch the handbox.

You're never really going to "fix" the issue of getting the GPS signal (short of the extension method).

Bonus is that you can hook this all up and do it during the day in the dome.
