I have a HP 8300 PC fitted with a 300GB hard drive and running Win7. I have just fitted a 240GB SSD drive on spare SATA sockets. I am told I should find the SSD drive in Disk Management to assign a drive letter and format but where is it? See attached screen shot of the Disk Management. Any ideas?

Did you plug in the power cable as well as the sata cable?

Thanks Damien and Pete
I checked that the power and sata cables were installed correctly. Then following Pete's advice I unplugged and replugged the cables. The SSD drive is now recognised and I have just formatted it and checked it out. So you were right Pete, maybe the unused cables got a bit dusty and the second connection fixed this - good thing and a tip to remember when connecting new gear in future.

I have now installed, formatted and named (E) a 240GB SSD drive on my PC and want to copy the Win 7 operating system and licence only from my existing C drive to the SSD.
What is the best way to do this and then make the SSD drive my Win 7 start up drive?

Use a clone disk utility and then go into bios to make the new drive the startup drive..... fairly easy. I did it recently and I have very limited IT knowledge
