Hi Guys today i am cloning my hard drive so i can store away a copy in case the original drive fails one day.

I have a new target hard drive ready as well as the cloning software and am clicking through the options and it came up with this with check boxes.

Could someone please suggest the best options for my task, below is what came up as it went through the process.

Choose Copy Options That Best Suit Your Task

1 HHD Raw Copy
2 Partition Raw Copy
3 Create New EFI Boot Entry For Destination Drive

As well as this with both boxes already ticked

Resize Option

1 Remove Free Blocks Between Partitions
2 Copy Data and Resize Partitions Proportionally

Thank You.

That's right. With the little info you've provided that's the options I'd pick.

Thanks Marc at that point in the process that was the only info available, and i was encouraged to choose how to proceed.

I will go with what you suggest if it doesn't work well i can format the HHD and start again i suppose.

Yeah practice makes perfect. Just make sure you don'g accidentally clone the empty disk on your boot drive :)

Hello Leon

I have used Acronis True Image since 2011 and have never been let down by it, I have upgraded it over time so that it runs under my current ( now Win 10 ) OS.

The good thing to me is I have two disks that are identical as at the completion of the clone, I store my old disk and start using the new one.

I also use a program called Second Copy to copy any new data file to two NAS boxes. I also used to have a backup copy of OS ( cloned ) but stopped that a few years ago as I hadn't been let down by a drive and it was a cost and a time use that seemed not wort it.

Hope this helps.

Ed
