Have you tried posting on the Open PHD guiding forum? I've found they are very helpful.

Yep..
It seems PHD2 doesn't work on XP.

That doesn't surprise me. It probably won't work on Win 7 in the not too distant future given MS is not supporting Win 7 beyond Jan.
