Hi All,
I came across a mention of such a software on the Starizona Imaging guide.
http://starizona.com/acb/ccd/basicstakfocusing.aspx
Does anyone know what software this is? It looks like a accurate way of focusing using a bright star. The software essentially works on the intensity of the brightest pixel and when this count is high it is a good indication of accurate focus.

When I can be bothered using a program :P I find QCFocus fairly serviceable. And it's free :D

Yep it's in French but it's not too difficult to follow.
Yeah, Fahim.
Looks good, and based on fairly simple principles.
Will also be interested to see if someone knows which software this is refering to??
Paul my french isn't any too good. Does it support other imagers than web cams or is that it?

I've only used it with a ToUcam Doug, but if you camera suits Microsoft WDM Image Capture then it should run. Here is the English help file.

Paul,
I am using Qcfocus on Dave's recommendations before, got sick of K3ccd crashing on me. There is a focus section in there, but I am not sure how it works. I turn it on and nothing happens, maybe its not compatible with the Neximage. I will take another look at it and try and work it out.
Regards
Thanks Paul I have a Toucam but I only use it for guiding. Well mostly anyways, last night I took a series of luna avi's just to see what all the fuss is about but I haven't tried to find where on the drive they finished up yet.
edit:- sorry bout the name mixup
