Which LP Filter

Good morning,

Just wondering which would be the best filter for money for light pollution.

Astronomik CLS CCD Filter or Optolong L-Pro filter 2"?

I am using a OSC camera, eg QHY8L and SW 190MN for imaging as an example.

Sorry I don't have experience with either but I do have a suite of the Hutech IDAS filters (D1, D2, V4, HEUIB II, NB2, NB3), and the STC DuoNarrowband.

What kind of objects will you be taking? And are you looking for a broadband that filters out only light pollution? Or considering narrowband too?

For me, I've found narrowband to be more satisfying but a bit needed in colour correcting, etc.

I find the Optolong L-Pro with my ASI294MC camera to handle Bortle 7 light pollution from Sydney suburban skies quite well for broadband objects. If you are wanting to go after nebulae then the Optolong L-eNhance is narrower bandpass and is very effective.

Thanks Sean for your valued input, tried an Idas filter off a mate and imaged NGC253 and found it hard to contain the red channel, it did hold up to curbing LP especially in my area but ended up not being too sure if it was the right choice for me. I am an all rounder so like to image anything that's up there of interest? If that makes sense? I did previously see that post so thanks for that.

Thanks Ted for replying back to me, I am liking the sounds of the Optolong L-Pro, read some nice reviews since my first post including Trevor from Astroback yard, I think he nailed it for me and I think you as a proven user has sort of reinforced the idea. I could not see your image of NGC253 as the link didn't work so if you could post I would really appreciate it.

If you don't mind me asking were did purchase your filter from? The only place I can find is China or US?

Ted, You have got me sooo excited, your images are top notch and perfectly balanced!

Ordered one and now I wait...probably be overcast for the next 6 months in the Illawarra.

I also ordered a short tube M42 to 2" extender to suit my QHY8L.
