I built it from fence panels

So easy to take apart and move

Total cost £85

The new roof will tilt and slide off

First impression was it could be used as a shooting blind!

That is actually very clever, using pre-assembled panels. I like it.

In fact quite a lot of thought went in to it only problem you have to get your leg over to get in

Jeremy what if you arranged the panels vertically that may give opportunity for a door....?

one on top of the other is higher than turned sideways BUT

1. I never thought to try and 2 when I re do it as the panels are ready i will try and may put in a 2' bit all round at the base.

Thanks

What a great idea! I’ve been debating an obsy for a long while, and have fresh impetus recently with my traumatized C925. It’s a pity bunnings dont sell cheap fence panels like this.
Did a quick/wider search but didn’t really come up with anything similar.

Hi Jeremy
The problem you will run into when adding a doorway is stability which in your case is easily overcome by adding a frame both top and bottom...also perhaps consider lining and insulation. I used a thin ply but gyprock is rather cheap.
As to insulation I used a material that is this silver stuff on a thin foam "rubber" material...only because it was in the stock pile of already aquired materials.
However given your comments about your weather I expect you may find benefit from such an addition.
I will add some small computer fans run direct by small solar panels..mainly to help manage heat build up in summer however air circulation in most climates presumably will be beneficial...I had to buy the fans but the little solar panels were found in my stock pile of stuff destined for the tip which I put aside for some unexpected future use.
You can buy little solar garden lights and take the panels out and make a suitable panel ..use say 12 which should drive a small fan...often you can get such lights for only a dollar ...even using 20 is cheaper than buying a small panel...I like the solar panel approach as it runs all by itself.
A floor is a good idea but keep it detached from your pier to minimize vibration...
Great idea ..good luck with your move and rebuild.

Very good astro box. The timber will offer some insulation and will not cause so much condensation , along with other benefits.

You can always add bolt on knee braces in the corners to keep it stable when opened up.

Perhaps an old school stile might be good until you organise a door. Or get the young people to fetch the cables you forget.

This is precisely the design process I was or still are going for except smaller, I though, started with a floor, but never got the time to complete it as usual.
