Anyone else having difficulties loading the PI downloads page? When trying to download the latest release, I get time outs continually. Or the page won't even load.

I can go everywhere EXCEPT the software distribution page - after logging in, I get a continual failing TLS handshake.

Same here. I tried to go and download the update after getting the email. It timed out. Even the contact form timed out so I assumed the server must have been under heavy load. Maybe everybody's downloading the new version now.

It's probably caused by Rick uploading all his scripts... :P

I've already talked to him on FB. He denies any involvement :P

Nup, not me! Might be a DoS attack from the scumbag who cracked the licensing on the old version and is annoyed that the new one is tougher to beat :)

My vote for the nicest new feature is being able to read the RA and Dec at the cursor position in plate solved images.

Seems fine now.

edit: No, the webpage opened OK but some of the functions are still broken.

Funny...previously I was getting :-

https://pixinsight.com/update/: Network error: Server aborted the SSL handshake
https://pixinsight.com/update-doc/: Network error: Server aborted the SSL handshake

Now I’m getting I have no updates.

So it seems to folks there are working on it however I’ve got a gut feeling that the site content’s getting restored at the moment, rather than just remediation accessibility/reachablility.

I managed to sneak in long enough for it to pop up the download dialogue box, and managed to download it. Installing now.

Ah I see, I can’t download/upgrade from the PI app. I’ve gone to the site and clicked on download and it’s “waiting for PixInsight” site @ the moment. I guess it’s busy.

Can't get into the forum also. So I'd surmise that a lot of poo is happening over there

All installed. Had to get a new activation code seeing it is an upgrade - took all of 2 minutes.

Tried to check for updates - seems only documents, so not bothering right now.

Hmmm. New version downloaded fine. But I've been waiting a few hours for the new activation code

So in order to install the new version, I have to uninstall the old?

Edit: Yes it seems.
Edit 2: I requested for a new activation code and mails came pretty much immediately. New PI version activated.

Yup.

Uninstall through Control Panel, start the new install, request for a new validation licence when prompted, then fill that in and good to go after restarting PI.

It was really easy and quick to get an activation code during the beta period :P

LewisM

Yeah yeah yeah :P

I hit the Request Activation Code and I had the first email in a flash, followed the link, sent the second email - go to woah in maybe 2 minutes.

Just a note for the linux users, the license file is not in
/home/username
any more. It now lives in
/home/username/.PixInsight

The documentation on the webpage is still showing the old information.

Grrr. I keep getting told its not a valid request when I hit the link in their email for a reactivation code.

Edit: stop whinging Chris. I sent them an email and got a response within 5min with my activation code ...

I managed to get the new download but it was very slow (like half an hour or more) to get the activation request through.

Greg.

So not certain if folks know, soon after this (1.8.6 1447) was released, PI released -another- minor release (1448) that’s not “updateable”.

https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=13007.msg79221#msg7 9221

You’ll need to uninstall the 1447 version again, and reinstall the 1448. But at least you don’t have to ask for a new license again.
