Gnat is ready to go

Finally ready to play. Will give it a go tonight.Still have to align and set up scope. Clayton's Observatory: Keter Grande Store built onto a box to raise the height. I was going to build storage underneath, but my carpentary skills have much to be desired. I will build shelves and laptop shelf, once I get the feel of the setup. The box rolls back and forward easily and takes seconds to open and close. Thank you to my friend Ian, who came up with a solution for the paving and keeping the rails true and the local concretor who was willing to do such a small job for me. Thank you everyone for your advice. Very happy. Now the hard part- think of a name. Might even have to do the sensible stuff- mowing and cleaning up.

well you seem to have thought that out well for yourself. Is it easy to roll away, that is does it roll evenly? fantastic result

Rolls evenly and easily. Just have to make sure no stones are between the pavers and rails.

First light. Moon shot straight from camera. The obs works well. Absolute bliss to be under the stars. Not quite aligned yet, but close.

Very nice roll off obsy you have built there.
Not trying to be negative but can i ask how you plan for the hot summer days?
Will the scope be ok heat wise?
Will you be taking the ota out when it hot?

I am asking as i have wanted to convert my 6x12 tin garage at my home into a ROR, but it gets very warm in there even now and i didn't want to risk anything getting too hot and breaking.

I am not sure at the moment. This is a question I am still contemplating. The resin shed has cell walls which provide some insulation and is vented. The scope has coped at the moment up to 40 degree heat. The eyepieces etc are in insulated boxes. The batteries and electronic controllers are kept in the house. During Dec-Jan, I am away so the scope will live in the house. If I need more insulation, I am considering lining the shed walls with the aluminium covered foam boards at Bunnings. It can be cut with a stanley knife and taped with aluminium tape. Just wondering if it may cause condensation between the walls and the liner?
