New version of the image processing software GIMP (v2.10) has been released with LOTS of changes, see here (https://www.gimp.org/release-notes/gimp-2.10.html).

Amongst other changes now it can process 32-bit colour depth images and also supports 64-bit fits images. This makes it a possible free alternative to Photoshop.

Just downloaded this and had a wee play. 32 bit goodness and some very useful tools to learn to use. The changes I see seem to make it line up more conventionally with Photoshop actions. Nice.
