My FIRST observatory

Months of planning, council approval, Deptartment of War and Finance approval, then amassing the funds to make this observatory possible.

Set the foundations pointing as close to SCP as possible, and poured the concrete today. It's finally done, and it's mine...

Dave has the Doghouse Observatory.

I have the Sh!thouse Observatory :lol: :lol: :lol:

Cost: $5 in quickset concrete. (the brand I got sets so quickly, I had to rush to even get the tripod indents into it!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Concrete set to an overly optimistic 10cm depth, with a pour diameter of 10cm.

The ants will probably dislodge it in a week, but hey, it points south with my tripod on top :)

I think you over-capitalised on the investment. :)

I just used 3 garden pot concrete "disks" for my tripod setup. Semi-portable observatory then. ;)

Had you considered whacking in some off cuts of 50mm steel pipe? Can push them down fairly deep, so less likely to move around after a flooding rain.

Still rock solid. Not moving yet. Waiting for the rabbits to dig under them :)
