I went to log on our home computer last night and my on screen Windows 10 log on account name (under my picture) had changed to Mike Smith . I can still long on with my password and nothing else appears to have changed but it was alarming, any ideas what might have happened here..?

Might be a case of dual citizenship. It's doing the rounds at the moment.

It might be that where it was just a user name on your PC, when you logged in to a microsoft account while logged in to the PC it has taken it upon itself to link the microsoft account to the PC user. Happened on my wife's computer but the microsoft password was different to the old PC user password so it took me a while to figure it out.

Cheers Tim...maybe...not sure what to do about it though, if anything...?

Hi Mike,

It's pretty easy.

Just go here, fill out the form, submit your original birth certificate,
pay the $120 registration fee and change you name to Mike Smith

Ok, so I assume the humour suggests it sounds like a rather benign problem then and not some North Korean hacker

If I ever run for federal parliament, I'll use that link Gary to change my name so my dual Italian-Australian citizenship, unwittingly inherited by birth from my great grandmothers aunt, who was rendered stateless by Mussolini...won't disqualify me :)

Hi Mike,

Hope you are keeping well.

It really is strange and I don't know the answer.

I even did a Google search on the problem and couldn't spot anything
similar. No doubt you did the same.

Certainly it would make one cautious as to whether the machine has
been compromised, but given Tim's anecdote, hopefully it is just some
crazy Microsoft bug where it has erroneously matched your login
against some other Microsoft account owner.

So do you have one of those Microsoft Accounts and if you log
into it is the name wrong there too?

Though Smith is about as common as surnames get and you and I even
know a Mike Smith, it happening to be such a generic surname
raises the eyebrow even more. It's really weird.

Smart move. You wouldn't want to run afoul of Section 46 in the Constitution! ;)

Otherwise we might all come lining up for our £200 a day or in lieu of that we will settle for any good eyepieces you have.

Considering all this kerfuffle is based on absolute black letter law, and not justice, or sensible interpretation, what happens if the senator is a she ????
Andrew ( Can't tell its cloudy again, can you :-) )

And for Mike, just buy a new computer.

Hi Andrew,

You of course know what the legal argument against that is.
In summing up, it’s the constitution, it’s Mabo, it’s justice, it’s law, it’s the vibe and aah no that’s it, it’s the vibe. I rest my case.
